Many clients currently seeking the surrogates' help are virgins over 40.
The surrogates train for 12 weeks and when qualified can earn up to $300 an hour.
I would estimate that I've probably had sex with about 850 people,
not including my husband.
Doyenne of California's sex surrogates, Cheryl Cohen-Green,
has worked with both male and female clients for nearly 40 years.
Cheryl has a doctorate in human sexuality and believes her job is very different
from that of a prostitute.
If you go to a prostitute, it's like going to a restaurant.
They hope you like it so much, you enjoy it, you'll come back and bring friends.
Coming to us is like going to cooking school.
You get the ingredients, the recipe, you mix it all together, enjoy it,
and then you go out into the world and you share it.
Surrogate therapy is not widely available outside the US.
And like other sex surrogates, Cheryl works with clients
who have a range of different sexual problems.
What I am is somebody who's a coach, a guide.
